Barton Dam

Published June 21, 1979 in Black & White, Landscape

Built as a WPA flood control project during the depression, the Barton Dam is on the Huron River just north of Ann Arbor. For years the generator was run by Detroit Edison but in the 1960s parts became just too hard to find and the generators were uneconomical to replace, so now it just regulates the level of the Huron River. Just upstream is Barton Pond and the Barton Hills country club.

One of the first 4×5 pictures I took using the Ikeda field camera and a 90mm f/6.8 Angulon on Tri-X. This one takes bunch of work in Photoshop to clean up the remains of my novice 4×5 tray processing.
